Malagouzia Nikolaou

Varietal Composition: Dry White Wine from 100% Malagousia BIO grapes.

Origin: The grapes are organically grown in the private 1,6h vineyards of Nikolaou family at the area of Duramani, with an average vine age of 8 years. The slope of the selected vineyard parcels is 2%, with south orientation and a yield of approximately 1000 kg per acre. No pesticides and fertilizers are used other than Bordeaux mixture, Sulphur and organic mulch (organic compost).

Production: Hand harvest takes place early September once the grapes reach the desired level of phenolic and alcoholic maturity. They are cooled at 4oC and go through skin contact cold extraction at 8oC for 10 hours. Using only the free-run, they are put through the alcoholic fermentation process with indigenous yeasts, which takes place in stainless steel controlled temperature tanks at 17oC in order to bring out the entire bouquet of the variety. In keeping with the principles of organic farming, we only add the bare minimum necessary quantity of Sulphur dioxide.

Characteristics:Gold highlights, magnificent aroma and silky low-acidic taste, with a sweet fresh fruit bouquet of peach, apricot and citrus fruits.

Serving: At a temperature of 12oC.

Food combination: Light meals and seafood.

Alcoholic strength: 13o

Tasted in the winery A & C Greece October 2017

Rose petal on the nose the palate starts with white peach quite fleshy. There is an underlying fresh streak a mix of citrus fruits but it fills out at the back and the finish has hints of sweetness.
